A roadmap to achieve our mission

1.        UISO welcome to new students:

Introduction:

UISO would organize a welcome party for the new international students at the start of the new semester. All the UISO members and some of the Korean students would be invited.

Purpose:

The purpose of this welcome party would be to integrate the new students into UISO so that they would get the ultimate services of UISO which would help them to get settled as soon as possible and would have a sense of community within the campus. This event would also give them a chance to meet other students who would guide them in different aspects of life in UNIST.

Funds needed: Yes, UISO will submit the detailed plan to UIC.

2.        Korean Speech competition:

Introduction:

In this competition, all the international students would be invited to compete in the Korean Speech competition. Students would be asked to prepare and memorize the speech and to deliver it in front of audience. We would invite Korean and all the international students to that event and 3 judges would decide who is first, second and third. There would be a money price for that too. We have to ask UNIST to set up a money price for that

Purpose:

The purpose of the speech would be to boast up the international students in UNIST to start learning Korean language. Moreover, in the presence of the Korean students the Korean students can be in contact with the international students and vice versa; which would help both the communities to remove the communication barrier which exist between them.

Funds needed: Yes, UISO will submit the detailed plan to UIC.

3.        UISO Trip:

Introduction:

Each semester, we would be having one trip in which all the international students. Korean cabinet members would accompany us. That trip would be one night stay trip to some nearest city. We would ask UNIST to fund us in this regards.

Purpose:

The international students would get to see the Korean places and would know about the cultures of Korea. Moreover, this would make them feel relaxed during the tough competitive environment in UNIST.

Funds needed: Yes, UISO will submit the detailed plan to UIC

4.        Contribution in UNIST Festival:

Introduction:

In each festival per semester, we would have our activities like doing some exciting activity, preparing traditional foods, organizing some other small events etc.

Purpose:

These activities would be beneficial for making the Korean UNISTARS and international UNISTARS close to each other and to share the cultural representation of the nationalities to other UNISTARS. This way we can make a step to ensure the multicultural environment in UNIST.

Funds needed: Yes, We will submit the detailed plan to UIC before the festival.

5.        UISO website:

Introduction:

UISO has now its own blog named uiso.blogspot.com. It has been designed such that it works and looks like a website. Soon we will buy a domain name unistuiso.com soon. All the major information about UISO is there. 

Purpose:

It would make an easier communication for between the UISO cabinet members and the international students of UNIST. Also it would give much information about UISO to the outsiders who are not a part of UISO

Funds needed: No, UISO will use its own internal funds for that.

6.        UISO Movie zone:

Introduction:

UISO has started a project in which movies from different countries would be shown with subtitles. Students would be invited to watch those movies.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to present the cultures and traditions and to bring an understanding in different communities of diverse cultures in UNIST in order to ensure the multicultural environment in UNIST.

Funds needed: No, UISO will use its own internal funds for that.

7.        UISO translation service:

Introduction:

Soon we would be having an active cabinet member who would be translating some Korean notices and also would be informing the international students with the latest notices (English and Korean both) which international students need. Those notices would be posted on uiso.blogspot.com.

Purpose:

To keep the international students updated with all the useful information which they are unable to get due to language problem

Funds needed: No. That would be a volunteer work.

8.    UISO Face book group:

Introduction:

We already have a group named UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of science and technology) which has 260+ members.

Purpose:

This group is our great strength which we are using to remove the communication barrier between international students and Korean students to ensure the multicultural environment..

9.    Birthday wishes:

Introduction:

UISO will be wishing each and every students birthday in order to share the loneliness which a person has on this special day. If possible, we can even organize a small get together party but we will buy birthday cards for them and deliver them on their birthdays.

Funds needed: No, UISO will use its own internal funds for that.

10.    UNIST hoods project:

Introduction:

UISO is planning to make UNIST hoods which on which UNIST would be written and the slogan “be global” would be there.

Purpose:

Each school has variety of clothes on which their school’s brand name is there. Student wears it and feels proud of it. Also it’s a source to advertise the UNIST brand outside campus. Moreover, selling these hoods would provide UISO organization much funds to carry on the activities to achieve its mission.

Funds needed: No, UISO will use its own internal funds for that.

11.     International books in UNIST library:

Introduction:

UISO has already convinced library staff to order some books of the native writers of different international students in UNIST.

Purpose:

International students would be able to be intact with their own cultures and traditions away from home by reading their own countries literature and poetry etc. Moreover, UNIST would have a variety of books in the library which would give a global touch in the UNIST library

12.    UISO Finance:

The template with all the codes for our financial matters is ready now. All we need is to put the financial expenses in it. That excel template is there on uiso.blogspot.com. All of the cabinet members can see it and know how much funds we have, how much income we are getting and how much expenses UISO have.

13.     UISO additional events:

Seeing our UISO funds and the circumstances, we would be organizing small events and trips.
